Our clubs offer several classes for the older junior who needs work on the fundamentals as well as the more advanced players who are playing USTA Tournaments.

TEENAGE TENNIS TRAINING

Description:
(Foam, Transition, and Regular Balls) This class is for the 'older junior' who is relatively new to tennis. Learning to rally and play will be the main emphasis of class. Main goals include basic match play strategies for singles and doubles as well as form on all the shots.

Length: 1 hours Ages: 12 yrs - 16 yrs 11 mos


LEVEL 6 TENNIS

Description:
(Transition and Regular Balls on a Full Size Court) The main goals of this class are to master consistency and continue work on correct swing shapes on all shots. Live hitting drills encourage skills such as anticipation, decision-making, and tactical adjustments. These players are competing in the Grand Prix events as well as the Sunday Challenge Ladder. Players in this level are also expected to be playing in some local USTA tournaments.

LEVEL 7 TENNIS

Description:
These players have experience on their high school team at the Junior Varsity level and are working towards making their Varsity team. Live hitting drills work on doubles and singles tactics. Participation in the Sunday Junior Challenge Ladder is suggested.

LEVEL 8 TENNIS

Description:
These players are playing at the Varsity high school level and/or are competing in local or sectional tournaments. The main goal of this class is to create an intense drill environment to work on strokes, conditioning, mental toughness and tactics.

This program is open to all high school students and will be led by the full time staff at Orchard Hills Swim and Sports Club. The main goals will be to work on fundamentals of all shots, doubles and singles tactics, and a general overview of what it takes to raise your game to the next level.

Description:
This class is specifically designed for Varsity girls and will focus on the key elements of doubles. Topics covered include: job descriptions of each player, poaching, secondary poaching, shifting together as a team, advantages and disadvantages of different playing styles, how to beat teams that play different styles, serving and volleying, and court positioning. Sign up with a partner from school and we will keep you together. The class meets for two hours with time at the end to play doubles. Register by calling Orchard Hills at 224-8700.

Description:
These are one-day compass draw doubles tournaments that guarantee four matches per tournament. This is a non-elimination format and the perfect way to tune up for a competitive high school season.
